This guide is an invitation for locals and visitors with special needs to explore the sights, sounds and flavors that Santa Cruz County has to offer. It has been written primarily to meet the needs of wheelchair users, people with developmental challenges, and their caregivers. We¡¯ve included some resources for people with visual and auditory impairments, but our focus for this guide came from the community that Shared Adventures works with most closely. This emphasis in no way reflects an issue of value or judgement ¡ª our goal is to be sure that everyone is accommodated.We will send the 64-page page bilingual Access Guide To Santa Cruz County anywhere in the United States for a small shipping fee of $3.00.

AAPD is the largest national nonprofit cross-disability member organization in the United States, dedicated to ensuring economic self-sufficiency and political empowerment for Americans with disabilities. After 16 years as a civilian working for the Dept. of the Navy, Robert Bayton, took the opportunity to follow his growing passion for cooking. In 1993 he entered Johnson & Wales, working full time while attending school, and graduated with honors in 1995, as a chef. Working throughout Hampton Roads, Bob gained experience in some of the finest restaurant and continued to move up and gain the respect of his peers. At Orange County ARC, our mission is to make life better for people with disabilities. We are friend, advisor, advocate, and resource center for our clients and their families.
Orange County ARC's quality programs are delivered by an experienced, well-trained staff. Maintaining high quality programs requires continuing support from the community. Currently, foundations, individuals and businesses provide financial assistance in the form of donations and participation in various events. The Western Law Center for Disability
The Western Law Center for Disability provides legal assistance to persons with all types of disabilities in Southern California. With a small staff, law students externs, and volunteer attorneys, the Center fields requests for assistance from large numbers of persons with disabilities and provides much needed assistance through litigation, mediation, education, and meaningful referrals. The Center's services are provided at no cost or nominal cost. The Center's efforts contribute significantly to the ability of persons with disabilities to secure appropriate judicial, administrative, and consensual remedies under laws that protect their rights.213 736 8157
